Introducing…Inclusive Strategic Planning for Nonprofit Organizations

Exciting news: my book Inclusive Strategic Planning for Nonprofits: A five-step process to expand energy, alignment and opportunity  has been launched into the world. At this moment, it’s even listed as a #1 New Release!

ID: the Amazon book listing for Inclusive Strategic Planning for Nonprofits by Dr. Renee Rubin Ross, including the cover with orange, pink and green faces looking at one another.

I am thrilled and so full of gratitude.

And relieved! But thrilled and so full of gratitude!

Full disclosure: it was a lot harder than I expected to write a book! (That may be a blog post in the future!)  I feel proud of the final product. The book has received a lot of positive feedback from early readers.

The key idea of the book is that people's voices matter in determining our collective future. And we can design that into the future we create for nonprofit organizations.

I am headed to Las Vegas this week to present on this material at the Technology of Participation Facilitators’ Gathering. Very excited to geek out on this material with other facilitators and consultants.

How you can help

I believe in inclusive planning processes and if you’re reading this, I think you do too! The book shares the benefits of inclusive planning and details the steps to leading an inclusive process. This is valuable information that can help nonprofits, government entities and funders do better work.

In order to get the word out about the book and the importance of inclusive planning, my goal is to receive at least 50 reviews on Amazon.com. Reviews will give the book credibility beyond people who already know The Ross Collective’s work.

If you’re open to supporting this project:

  1. buy a copy of the Kindle or Paperback book on Amazon.com . Then you’re a verified purchaser.

  2. Read the book or at least page through it on Kindle.

  3. Post a review! Bonus points if you post some images of the book or Kindle version too, since those go to the top of the reviews.

I had the benefit of many people helping me through thoughtful reading with their insightful considerations, which definitely impacted the final result. These reviews are important, especially in the early days of the launch of the book

Why This Message Now

As I have shared here many times, we’re living in topsy turvy times. Again and again, I feel heartbreak and rage at the current political climate. The things that are most important to me are under attack, including issues where we were making real progress societally. This was colloquially named DEI, but better known as diversity, equity, and inclusion. Inclusion is what we’re talking about here - learning how to listen to the people who can and will impact your organization, allowing them to shape your future through planning.

This is important enough to me to provide trainings, I’ve taught the subject at colleges, and spoken about it at events. And doing this - teaching organizations to be more inclusive - is where I think I can be productive. Hopefully empowering the people affiliated with these organizations will provide healthier and long-lasting outcomes for everyone involved. And that includes me, as I’m able to lean into this work, giving me a bit of a break from the current reality living in our current events.

While I’m certainly asking for the favor that you download and read the book to give an informed five-star review - I’m also confident that you’ll learn something along the way!

Plus, after the excitement in Las Vegas this week, we’re planning a virtual  launch party soon. More on that in the future - I’ve got to get to the airport!
